PCE ADDS LED WALL TO ITS RENTAL INVENTORY

July 15, 2009

When you’ve got a better mousetrap. . .show it off! That’s what Pacific Coast Entertainment (PCE) did recently when it invited clients and prospective customers to attend an open house to view the new EVLED 1024SMD 20mm LED Video Panels from Elation Professional.

PCE felt that these features—along with the EVLED panels’ surprisingly low price—made them unique. So the company decided to host the open house to demo the product, which we’re simply calling The Wall.

“We wanted to get the word out about The Wall, because it creates new possibilities for our existing clients while opening opportunities for us to sell new markets,” said Ryan Steidinger, PCE’s director of operations.

According to John Koukios, owner of PCE, “Because of the price point of the Elation product, we can now offer a rental rate that’s a lot lower than many of our competitors’ video screens.” He adds: “This enables us to get The Wall into different markets where people have never before been able to afford a large video screen. For example, many colleges and high schools would love to have an LED wall to show the kids during graduation ceremonies and homecoming football games. Now we’re able to bring them one—just like they’d see at the big arenas—at a really cost-effective rental rate.”

More than 200 people attended PCE’s day-long open house, which was held at its Huntington Beach facility and featured a barbecue lunch. Attendees got to view the versatile EVLED panels in different settings, dramatically demonstrating the product’s wide range of applications.

The panels will rent out for $100 per day, including the media server. We think that’s an unbeatable rate!

Before being “retired”, the system was part of the “Star Trek Experience” in Las Vegas. Boasting a maximum spec of 140 dB, it’s 90” x 40” with each subsystem weighing 525 lbs. Many of the components in this system interchange with other high end EAW products, making it a versatile system. We’re asking $3000 for the overall system (OBO).

BIG CHECK!

Scott Steidinger scholorship award recipient.

June 6, 2009

At PCE we love BIG checks, but this time it’s our turn to give back. PCE’s Ryan Steidinger explains: “The Huntington Beach High School Academy for the Performing Arts is home to one of the best technical theater programs in the nation. I was honored to be a third-generation Steidinger at the school and a second-generation tech theater Steidinger.” He added that “It’s a tragedy that the tech students get forgotten when it comes to scholarships, so I helped create one in my father’s name.” Scott Steidinger has worked in the audio and education fields for more 40 years and continues in his professional career to this day. With a smile he noted, “Usually you’re dead when you get this kind of honor, so I’m glad to be around to see it!” The scholarship is available to one tech theater student each year who has declared his or her intention to pursue a career in this field. PCE has been a huge supporter of the fund and this year raised the majority of scholarship monies. Ryan Steidinger finished by saying, “It’s very gratifying for us to be able to give back to the community, helping students move forward with their career goals and dreams.”

REGGAE FEST ROCKS WITH PCE

Reggae Festival at UCI with QSC widelines for audio reinforcement.

June 4, 2009

PCE was hired once again to run UCI’s Reggae-fest. The festival was held on the campus’s 19-acre Aldrich Park. The university made an unusual request of PCE’s Mike Diocson, who served as production manager. “Can you shade the audience without a tent?” After some quick and creative thinking, Diocson said, “Of course we can!” And so PCE’s Chris Dodd joined Diocson in rigging camouflage netting from surrounding trees to shade the crowd, simultaneously creating a unique atmosphere for the event. The concert went flawlessly. Once again PCE used QSC Wideline line arrays for the event. Front-of-house engineer Gabrial “Tinee” Sanchez happily said, “These Wideline’s really cover it all!” Of course, PCE was pleased to receive this encore assignment from UCI. According to Diocson, “It’s all in a day’s work!”

Power to Change 2008

September 29, 2008

Pastor Jason Frenn’s 2008 San Diego Power to Change event drew over 6000 attendees to a convention center totally transformed by Pacific Coast Entertainment (PCE) and many talented people. Show manager and PCE staffer Ryan Steidinger called upon audio engineers Gabriel “Tinee” Sanchez for FOH and Dan Housel for monitors while PCE’s Braedy Benjamins designed and Mike Diocson directed lighting for the show. Lighting gear drawn from PCE’s extensive equipment inventory included their new ETC Ion lighting console, 12 new Elation Powerspot 700 CMYs, and a new ShowLED technical lighting curtain. For audio they used 36 QSC Wideline 10 speakers, a Yamaha PM5D to cover FOH and a Yamaha M7CL-48 for monitors. Video featured 3 camera coverage for IMag which was displayed using 2 12K and 2 10K Christie projectors.

The show went tremendously well and was a smashing success. Client Jason Frenn was heard saying, “I’m very happy with PCE and I recommend them highly” to which PCE’s Steidinger added, “Our goal was to provide excellent customer service and based upon the client’s comments our goal was met.” Pacific Coast Entertainment is located in Huntngton Beach, CA and can be reached at 714-841-6455 or visit www.pacificcoastentertainment.com.
