Slam Grand Piano Shell Setup Guide
The Slam Grand Piano Shell is a lightweight, portable replica of a traditional grand piano, designed to house digital keyboards/electric pianos while delivering the visual impact of a full, traditional grand piano. The Slam Grand Piano Shell adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any occasion, making it a popular option for galas and other classy events.
Because of its size and the massive road case it comes in, setting up the Slam Grand Piano Shell can be a tricky process. In this video, PCE Backline Technician Alex Lopez (himself a professional touring musician) explains the process of unboxing and deploying the piano shell on a stage. While doing so takes some time and a good amount of hands (not to mention muscles), the process is relatively simple if you follow the steps showcased in this video.
The Slam Grand Piano Shell fits a wide range of electric pianos and keyboards. The built-in piano hole measures 55" across. With the hinged lid closed, the piano hole offers 10.5" of depth. Open, it offers 12" of clearance. Wooden shims help position different piano models properly. This video shows how to place a Roland RD-800 and a Nord Stage 4 in the Slam Grand Piano Shell, but many other piano/keyboard models will fit just as well.
